Safeguarding Children and Adults Training Prospectus:

Nameloc Training Consultancy works in partnership with organisations to provide high-quality safeguarding training that is relevant, engaging and tailored to professional roles and service settings.

Training can be delivered face to face or virtually and may include individual courses, specialist updates or wider organisational programmes.

Our associate trainers are experienced practitioners and qualified trainers with specialist knowledge across a range of safeguarding subjects. They are selected for their professional expertise, ability to engage learners and commitment to delivering practical, evidence-informed training.

Where applicable, courses are aligned with the relevant national intercollegiate competency frameworks and support practitioners, safeguarding leads and senior leaders working at Levels 3, 4 and 5.

Safeguarding Adults Level 4 Course

This advanced course is designed for safeguarding leads and professionals with significant responsibility for safeguarding adults at risk of abuse or neglect.

It supports participants to strengthen their legal knowledge, professional judgement, leadership skills and confidence when responding to complex safeguarding concerns, including involvement in Section 42 enquiries and organisational decision-making.

Key learning outcomes

develop an advanced understanding of adult safeguarding legislation, information sharing, confidentiality, consent and professional guidance;
strengthen legal literacy across a range of complex safeguarding issues;
understand forensic considerations relevant to clinical practice, including the preservation of evidence and appropriate referral pathways;

Safeguarding Adults: Section 42 Enquiries

This course develops participants’ understanding of Section 42 enquiries under the Care Act 2014. It considers the purpose of an enquiry, how enquiries are developed and undertaken, and the responsibilities of the local authority and partner organisations.

Safeguarding Adults: An Introduction to Making Safeguarding Personal

This introductory course provides an overview of adult safeguarding responsibilities and the principles that support effective, person-centred practice. It explores how Making Safeguarding Personal places the person’s views, wishes and desired outcomes at the centre of safeguarding activity.

Recognising an adult safeguarding concern and identifying possible signs of abuse or neglect

Safeguarding Children Level 4 Named Professionals

This advanced course has been developed to support the requirements of the 2025 Intercollegiate Document: Safeguarding Children and Young People – Roles and Competencies for Healthcare Staff at Level 4.

The course combines advanced safeguarding knowledge with professional leadership, critical analysis and confident decision-making. It is suitable for named professionals, safeguarding leads and practitioners who hold significant responsibilities for safeguarding children and young people.

Key Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will have:

strengthened their understanding of the 2025 intercollegiate competencies and the responsibilities associated with Level 4 practice
increased their confidence in using professional curiosity, critical reflection and evidence-informed analysis when responding to complex concerns
developed their knowledge of child neglect, including cumulative harm, disguised compliance and the importance of respectful professional challenge
considered effective information sharing, escalation, accountability and multi-agency decision-making

Supporting People with Neurodiversity: Building Awareness and Inclusive Practice

This course develops awareness of neurodiversity and explores how differences in communication, sensory processing, attention and social interaction may affect a person’s experiences. It supports participants to recognise and respond to people’s needs through respectful, strengths-based and inclusive practice.

Developing an understanding of neurodiversity and different ways people may experience and respond to the world

Every Conversation Matters: Engaging with People Experiencing a Mental Health Crisis

This course supports participants to engage safely, respectfully and compassionately with people who may be experiencing mental distress or a mental health crisis. It explores how effective communication, professional curiosity and appropriate action can help people feel heard, understood and supported.

Key Learning Outcomes:

Recognising possible signs that a person may be experiencing mental distress or crisis
Using sensitive, supportive and non-judgemental communication
Knowing when and how to seek additional support, escalate concerns or respond to immediate risk

Prevent and Radicalisation: Practice Update

This course provides an update on Prevent responsibilities and current practice in recognising and responding to concerns relating to radicalisation. It supports participants to understand vulnerability, remain professionally curious and take proportionate action in accordance with organisational and local safeguarding procedures.

This course introduces the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and its key principles. It supports participants to understand how the legislation protects the rights of people who may be unable to make particular decisions, while ensuring that people are supported to make their own decisions wherever possible.

Assessing Mental Capacity: How to Complete a Capacity Assessment

This practical course supports participants to undertake and record decision-specific mental capacity assessments. It examines each stage of the assessment process and the evidence required to reach a clear, lawful and professionally defensible conclusion.

Key Learning Outcomes:

Identifying the specific decision and the relevant information the person needs to understand
Applying the diagnostic and functional elements of the mental capacity assessment
Recording the assessment, evidence and professional rationale clearly

Deprivation of Liberty: Understanding the New Legal Test and Its Application in Practice

This new course has been developed in response to the recent Supreme Court ruling, which has significantly changed the legal approach to identifying a deprivation of liberty. It explains the new legal test and supports participants to understand what the judgment means for people, professionals and organisations in everyday practice.

Through practical examples and discussion, participants will consider how to recognise a potential deprivation of liberty, apply the new legal test, exercise professional judgement and record clear, lawful and defensible decisions.

Key Learning Outcomes

Recognise the mental-capacity factors that remain relevant to DoLS practice, including decision specificity, support to decide, best interests, least restrictive practice, insight and executive functioning
Explain how the Supreme Court’s 2026 judgment changed the approach to identifying a deprivation of liberty, including the reduced reliance on the former acid test.
Apply the revised multifactorial test by considering the type, duration, effects, purpose and manner of implementation of restrictions.
Distinguish between mental capacity under the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and valid consent for the limited purposes of Article 5 ECHR.

Professional Curiosity: Looking Beyond the Obvious

This course explores the importance of professional curiosity in safeguarding practice. It supports participants to look beyond initial explanations, identify inconsistencies or gaps in information, and use respectful, exploratory questions to gain a clearer understanding of a person’s circumstances.

Through discussion and practical scenarios, participants will consider how professional curiosity can support earlier identification of risk, improve information-sharing and strengthen professional decision-making.
